NATURE AND TECHNOLOGY JOIN FORCES
A district defined by a linear woodland area.
The Aragonese Technology District (DAT Alierta) is not only emerging as a technological giant, but also as a pioneering space in the integration of nature. One of its most notable hallmarks will be an area of woodland, the drafting project of which has already been put out to tender. With a maximum investment of 134,034.57 euros and a four-month construction period, this woodland area will transform the Río Ebro Campus, and particularly the streets of María de Luna and Mariano Esquilor, by contributing to the green areas and recreation and sports areas, and improving traffic and parking.
The Vice President of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, stated: “We are not building just another technology park, but a unique, cutting-edge space.” The goal is to foster the harmonious coexistence of the technology sector, the university, and training, research, and innovation centres. The Rector of the University of Zaragoza, Rosa Bolea, agreed, highlighting the ideal location of DAT Alierta due to the wealth of its educational programmes, research centres and business incubators, and predicted a significant economic and social impact.
DAT Alierta: a technological future under construction
Since its announcement in May 2024, the DAT Alierta project has made great progress, consolidating a series of key investments that position it as a leading technology hub:
- Expansion of the Aragon Institute of Technology (ITA): More than 7 million euros to expand its facilities.
- Arrival of CIRCE: A new headquarters of 50,000 m² with an investment of more than 20 million euros.
- New Vocational Training Building: An investment of 10 million euros to boost technological vocational training.
- Renewal of CEEI Aragón: 3 million euros for the modernisation of the European Business and Innovation Centre and its adaptation for new requirements.
- Public tender for the PIGA: The tender for the drafting of the Project of General Interest of Aragon has already been launched, with a budget of 1.6 million euros, to speed up its development.
These initiatives show the firm commitment to making Zaragoza and Aragon epicentres of innovation and technological development, where cutting-edge technology merges with respect for the natural environment.
