More than 20 million euros to consolidate innovation in Aragon

The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, has announced an investment of over 20 million euros to integrate CIRCE (Research Centre for Energy Resources and Consumption) into the ambitious technology park, DAT Alierta. This strategic initiative will further strengthen the region’s innovation and technological development ecosystem.

The investment will enable the construction of a new centre for CIRCE, which will exceed 50,000 m², and will house state-of-the-art offices and laboratories. This will be one of the largest and most prominent buildings within DAT Alierta, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 with completion in early 2029.

The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the second day of “The Wave” technology conference, and underscores the growing interest in DAT Alierta. President Azcón revealed that more than a dozen companies, including several scientific institutions, have shown interest in settling in the park, and five of them have already confirmed the construction of their own buildings.

Training and talent are fundamental for the technological development of Aragon. In this sense, the Government has increased the number of places in university courses, such as engineering and mathematics, and has promoted STEAM Vocational Training. Azcón announced that one of the first buildings to be put out to tender will be a Specialist Vocational Training Centre for the technology sector.

The DAT Alierta project, first presented in May 2024, saw a €100 million investment confirmed by the Government of Aragon in January of this year. President Azcón expressed optimism, stating that “DAT Alierta is going to be a real success”. “The Wave” conference served as a platform to showcase Aragon’s technological advances to the world and connect the region to global trends, consolidating the idea that “Aragon’s time is now”.
